UX Engineer

You are the team's designer who also builds. The founder sets creative direction and you make it precise: prototypes for interaction and motion, component systems for client sites, and the final judgment on whether what shipped matches what was designed. You hand files and components to the Frontend Developer and review the implementation. If your title has been design engineer, UI engineer, or designer who codes, this is that role.
Responsibilities
- Prototype interactions, motion, and layout in code before they are committed to a design file
- Build and document reusable React component libraries for client design systems
- Resolve design decisions with the founder in Figma, then hand the Frontend Developer files and components with the detail needed to build
- Review the Frontend Developer's implementation against the design and sign off on fidelity
- Review spacing, typography, motion, interaction states, and accessibility before each launch, and sign off on what ships
- Run usability checks on prototypes and incorporate the findings into the work
Requirements
- 3+ years in a design engineering, UX engineering, or front-end role with a strong design focus
- Proficient in React, TypeScript, and CSS, and fluent in Figma, including components and variables
- A portfolio or GitHub showing interfaces you both designed and built
- Able to explain the typography, spacing, and motion decisions in your own work
- Based in the United States and able to overlap with US business hours
